Quarterly update WQ26
Here is our status at the end of the winter quarter 2026.

LupBook is the project that saw the most work this past quarter.
Sachin Balasubramanyam finished writing the draft of a real interactive textbook (adapting some lecture slides from when I taught “ECS30: Programming and Problem Solving” back in 2018) and successfully defended his master’s project. He also contributed a few styling improvements to the framework.
On my end, I finished implementing proper randomization and more resistant saving/restoring behavior for most activities. I also started working on improving the accessibility of our framework.

After a year-long hiatus, VRV is seeing some work again. Gabbriel Bui is attempting a reimplementation of the internal emulation engine in modern C++. Hopefully, this will get closer to being able to eventually run VRV in the browser for maximum usability.

Tanek Swain and I have resumed work on the CS education study that aimed to analyze differences in student records between native and transfer students. We hope to polish a paper that can be submitted by this summer.
