Here is our status at the end of the winter quarter 2025.

  • LupBook saw a lot of work again this quarter, although most of it is still in the process of being merged. Sachin implemented light/dark terminal themes and the saving of the user theme. Lingfeng automated the testing of the VM component. Jay implemented reading progress indicators. Ananya implemented versioning for the VM and pandoc-lupbook, to make sure that both components are compatible when compiling a book. Finally, I refactored a lot of code and improved the UI/UX.
  • LupIO now works on an SMP system, which finally proves our proof of concepts that our LupIO collection of education-friendly I/O devices is realistic enough to be implemented in hardware. Kush and Shengmin will now write a paper about this project which we hope we can submit this summer.
  • VRV (Virtual RISC-V) received some attention. Gabbriel switched the building system to meson, implemented proper versioning, and automated cross-platform releases. Meanwhile, Noah continued working on the web version on his spare time (while applying for jobs) and made tremendous progress. I’m hoping to release his work publicly sometime this quarter.
  • Alaister and Tej have begun a rough paper draft on the records aspect of our study looking at the perception of success and actual success between highschool admits and transfer students. They will finalize the paper this quarter and we hope to submit it for publication this summer.
  • Meanwhile, Saili and Tanek are in the polishing phase on their paper covering the survey aspect of the same study.
